  • FWIW, I believe that’s a SMALL (you said “medium,” while showing an HMP file reading ”small”) laser in both main-line versions. Giant ball of fail with legs indeed.

  • Its the generic crap mech that you could picture a Gundam spending a whole 30min episode single handed destroying an army of.

The SRM 2 is the one weapon that you wish you could do factional accounting for, and only take a quater ton of ammo. Instead of spending a whole ton on 50 shots you will spend an entire campaign desperately trying to go through. If anything its the weapon you should always fire even if you have to roll a 12 to hit. Only useful when used in groups, and then you might as well just use a SRM 4 or 6. With an SRM2 you have less of a chance to actually hit with both missiles if you go on the Battletech average of a roll of 7, which is still just one missile hitting.

Wow, I’m ranting about the SRM2, ugh.

  • @BobRichter - I am striving for about the same level of accuracy as the original TRO:3025. :)   “Kurita’s St. Ives Armored Cavalry…” still gets a laugh at the game store.

@Byron_Heresy_Voyeur - Yes, the SRM-2 is far less generous that the four or six pack. It’s why I’ve never, ever seen anyone in my local group pack one. Strike that, I do on the “Black Widow” Super Wasp. The Wasp is another design I loathe, so getting 5 more tonnes was the best I could do.

  • @Doug_Glendower - The SRM2, along with the AC/2 and M-Gun are the weapons that I think just have way to much ammo to be practical. Your carrying around a ton of ammo just waiting for the golden bb. I will usually just go to battle with a half load for these weapons on a mech, and I almost always just reduce the M-Gun ammo to a half ton. On mechs like the Stinger that half ton comes in handy for more armor, and you’ll never miss those 100 shots.

  • @Doug_Glendower - Then you failed. If you were seeking 3025 level accuracy, you should have inserted equal time for empty space at regular intervals and confused the Sentinel with the Shogun, while taking most of your artwork from dubiously-licensed sources and failing to check your own previous material.

@Byron_Heresy_Voyeur - SRM2s only make sense in multiples, where they deliver more mean firepower than would a larger missile system. 3xSRM2 beats 1xSRM6 hands-down. No questions asked. Singly, the only purpose they ever had was to deliver infernos. Since I banned infernos from all of my games (I am revisiting this policy in light of the TW rebalance,) I never used them, always preferring the nigh-all-powerful Standard Medium Laser.

For campaigns, partially loading your ammo bins /is/ an option. You won’t get any tonnage back, but there’s no point in carrying 35 rounds that are just going to go splodey on you.

The AC/2s ammo load reflects the only fighting style in which it’s effective. That is, plinking from long range. For that, you will need a lot of ammo, and more than one gun would be nice too.

The machine-gun has too much ammo, yes. That’s why you mount four of them with a half-ton of ammo.
