  • I don’t know, maybe I’m feeling crotchety, maybe I’ve got a burr up my saddle, maybe I’m just being a goddamned git, but maybe I just feel the need to rant.

Now a lot of people are lamenting “oh my life is so hard” or “no one likes me” or “I’m such a loser and I’ll never ammount to anything”. I know these people in real life and on the Internets, and you know what, this reaction should last about twenty five seconds. That’s right. I’m calling all y’all out. If you want change, start changing. If you don’t want to lose, win in something. If you’re not liked it’s because no one likes depressing gits. My life is hard. But you know what, it could be a lot f’ing worse. Bitching about it for more than the above mentioned twenty-five seconds ain’t going to change Jack, nor his constant compainion Shit. Now if you want to tell me what your problems are without the overdramatic self-pity crap, I’ll listen and if I can, I’ll try to help. How much help a broke as webdev/student/BATTLETECH GOD can do from Bakersfield, CA is subject to debate. But damnit, most of you here are in the hobby, and frankly this is a good hobby to have. When you invest in the good times, the crap doesn’t go away in the bad times and you can still play. Some of you have come to this conclusion independently, filling your non-sucky-life time with the glories of marching your pewter and plastic armies to victory. Some of you are still caught up on not having all the finer things in life like cable TV or movie weekends. Sorry, these are pay-as-you go, and therefore not as inherently as cool as Battletech which is only pay as you go if you sell off your miniatures after every game. Those of you in remoter areas who can’t get to a game, you have my apologies. As long as your internet is up, I recommend using forums and contacts to play MegaMek. The point is if your life sucks, find one damned thing to enjoy to put it all in perspective. Some of you are working two jobs to just get by, some are working no jobs and are in a tizzy, but damnit, there are not many online communities as supportive and lucid as the Battletech community. Perspective, people. It’s not things are bad, or things could be worse. It’s about maintaining a postive outlook in the face of adversity, like when you just can’t win that WWE title back or when your damned dice can’t seem to roll above four.

This is mainly directed at a local dude here who SHOULD BE READING MY F’ING BLOG, but if you find it applies, well, all the better. As Marcus the Happy Minibari Ranger once said, “If you’re going to have delusions, might as well go for the really satisfying ones.” So HIT MY PYRO and PLAY MY MUSIC!

    Peace.

  • I’m more inclined to think this rant was caused because your Lootbag is being pwned by a Catapult. ;)

  • Too bad… knowing the owner of the Catapult, it has been spent already on cheap beer and easy women!!

  • You’re right.  I should change.

    *swipes Doug’s lootbag*

Hey!  I’m feeling better already!  Thanks Doug!!

  • Suppose life is hard and there’s actually nothing you can do about it? Do I get 25 seconds every time it gets worse?  Battletech is still good though.

  • @BobRichter - I guess I’m too inspired by a homeless guy who still manages to be upeat and optimistical. If he can, I can with my car and roof and computers and what not. Rick the Homeless Guy is the f’in’ MAN.

  • Hey, I manage to be upbeat most of the time too. Doesn’t mean I’m not depressed and desperate.
